One-Day Seminar: Origins of the Judiciary hosted by the McConnell Center (Louisville, KY)

March 24 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

This seminar offers an intensive study on the role of the Supreme Court in American Politics and the concept of “judicial review.”  A number of controversial cases in recent decades have given rise to a polarized debate in America over the desirability of judicial review.  With that in mind, we will examine the original purpose of the Supreme Court and the debates over judicial review during the American Founding period.  Finally we will look closely at the case of Marbury v Madison (1803) and the significance of that decision for the evolution of the Supreme Court and its power of judicial review

All program registrants will receive a copy of 50 Core American Documents.

Registration: 8:00 am
