One-Day Seminar: “Civil Disobedience in American History” hosted by Roanoke County Schools (Roanoke, VA)
March 10 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
The discussion in this seminar will focus on how women and people of color have exercised their First Amendment rights of speech, petition and assembly to protest the status quo and push for civil and political equality. The discussion will also include Supreme Court decisions that impact the civil and political equality of women and people of color. Participants will receive a reading packet of primary source documents in electronic and hard copy to prepare for an engaging discussion led by a scholar in the field. The seminar is free to participants and lunch will be provided. Join us at the discussion table as we examine history in the words of those who lived it.
Lunch will be provided at this free program, as well as a certificate for continuing education. All registrants will receive a copy of the reader, on paper, in advance of the program; and digital copies will be available here after early February 2020. Click here to register.
