One-Day Seminar: Civil Rights – Constitution and Law hosted by Cobb County Schools (Held Online)
July 27 @ 9:30 am - 11:10 am
The Civil Rights Movement in America has endured a difficult and tumultuous path. The original Constitution did not protect the civil and political rights of African Americans. After the Emancipation Proclamation ended the institution of slavery, three constitutional amendments were ratified – intending to guarantee freedoms, equality and civil rights for all men, however it would take many generations of hardships and the intervention of federal courts before significant progress was achieved. This seminar addresses the complicated road endured by African Americans. Find the readings that will be discussed in this seminar here.
