One-Day Seminar: Populists and Progressives hosted by Georgia Council for Social Studies (Athens, GA)
October 10 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
Discussion Leader: Dr. Greg Schneider
Often understood simply as opposition parties, the Populist and Progressive movements developed in response to the genuine challenges of industrialization, immigration, and urbanization in the late nineteenth century. What did the populists and progressives stand for? How were they alike and different, and how can we assess their legacy in United States history, government and politics?
The 2019 GCSS Conference will be held on October 10-11 in Athens at the Classic Center. This year we are excited to host a TeachingAmerican History.org seminar during the conference on Thursday, October 10th. There are only 30 seats available for this seminar!!
