Washington and the Constitution
October 29, 2024
Vandalia, IL

About the Seminar

This seminar examines George Washington’s influence on the Constitution and on the Office of the President through a careful reading of original letters and documents. We will especially focus on Washington’s character as a leader and his actions as first President of the United States. The goal is to understand Washington’s lasting influence on the office of President in our constitutional system of government.

This program will be conducted as a discussion, utilizing primary source documents as the only readings, and with the Discussion Leader facilitating the conversation, instead of lecturing or presenting. Registrants, therefore, are highly encouraged to read all the documents in advance and come ready with questions. All attendees will receive a Letter of Attendance at the end of the seminar.
