One-Day Seminar: Reconstruction (Ashland City, TN)

The problems of reconstruction involved binding the country’s wounds and protecting the rights of the freedmen.  While each of these problems was extremely difficult on its own, Lincoln’s efforts during the war show that these problems were impossible to resolve at the same time. Lincoln identifies the crucial issues and options while the bullets of the Civil War still flew. Our task is to identify those issues, to figure out why they were difficult to resolve at the same time…
