Dr. Donna Devlin received her B.S. in Education and B.A. in History from Fort Hays State University and taught for eleven years at the 7-12 level in Smith Center, Kansas. During those years in public education, she earned her M.A. in American History and Government from Ashland University and was awarded a James Madison Memorial Fellowship in 2010 in conjunction. Devlin earned her Ph.D. in History from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2023. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of American History and Government at Sterling College in central Kansas.
Devlin has published three articles related to the history of sexual violence in the Great Plains and is currently working on her first monologue to be published with the University of Nebraska Press in 2027. The book is entitled Outrage on the Plains: Rape and Privilege in White Settler Societies, 1870-1900.
In her spare time, Donna enjoys reading, playing the piano, jogging, watching Royals baseball, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She also heads a local nonprofit which provides a humanities-based educational support system for her local community, while also providing a safe shelter for women who have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence, oppression, and/or persecution.
Donna has two wonderful daughters, Corbin and Sydney (married to Hesston), and one very special grandson named Duke. She was raised on the family farm in north central Kansas.
