One-Day Seminar: Nineteenth Century Reform Movements hosted by St. Xavier High School (Cincinnati, OH)

Sat, Oct 21, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

The Declaration of Independence and evangelical Christianity were the twin sources of the reform movements that did so much to shape American politics and life from the Revolution to the Civil War.  This seminar examines several reform movements of the antebellum period, paying particular attention to how views of human nature and the millennium, expressed in the Declaration and evangelical Christianity, affected American politics.

Discussion Leader: Dr. Emily Hess, Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Ashland University
