This seminar will focus on the political thought and statesmanship of Henry Clay, John C. Calhoun, and Daniel Webster. Collectively known as “The Great Triumvirate” because of their dominance of the American political system for nearly half a century, these three men helped to shape and define the American conception of equality and liberty during the antebellum era.
