One-Day Seminar: Missouri, Dred Scott, and the Coming of the Civil War, hosted by Canyons School District (Salt Lake City area, UT)
December 13 @ 8:00 am - 2:30 pm
Of the many direct and contributing causes of the Civil War, two stand near the top of the list that brought slavery – the most essential cause – to the forefront of American politics, life, and debate. Dig deeply into how Missouri statehood and the infamous Dred Scott court case did so much to set the stage for the political fracturing that took place in the late 1850s and led directly to war between the states. Lunch will be provided; a certificate for continuing education will be provided to all who attend; and a printed copy of the documents reader will be sent to all registrants in advance of the program. Please register at least 3 weeks early in order to ensure that you have a packet mailed to you.
Digital copies of the agenda and reader will be available here after early November.
