Matthew D. Norman is Associate Professor of History at University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College. He holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a B.A. from Knox College. His research interests include Abraham Lincoln and the United States Civil War. His publications include Knowing Him by Heart: African Americans on Abraham Lincoln (2022), recipient of the Abraham Lincoln Institute Book Award in 2024. Professor Norman is currently working on a book project called The Civil Rights Cases of 1883: A Second Dred Scott?.
