Convention Contributions: After showing up in late July, Gilman made no major contributions during the normal sessions, but still participated in the Leftovers Committee. William Pierce described him as “modest, genteel, and sensible.”
New Government Participation: Gilman would go on to serve in the first four congresses from 1789-1797. He then served as a Senator from 1805 to his death in 1814.
