Convention Contributions: McClurg left the convention in August, not returning to sign the constitution. While at the convention, he argued for a life long presidential term.  William Pierce said he “attempted once or twice to speak, but with no great success.” 
New Government Participation: McClurg went on to be the Mayor of Richmond in 1797,1800, and 1803.
