Convention Contributions: Strong participated regularly throughout the convention until he had to leave in late August to attend to a family member’s illness. While he was at the convention, he was an advocate for strong central government and was the one to move for revenue bills to start in the House. William Pierce noted that “as a Speaker he is feeble, and without confidence.”
New Government Participation: After the convention, he continued serving as  Hampshire County Attorney until 1800. During this time, he also served as a member of the U.S. Senate from 1789-1793. In 1800 he would become Governor of Massachusetts until 1807. 5 years later he reclaimed the position and served until he retired in 1916.
