Convention Contributions: Washington served as the President of the convention. He was a strong Federalist during the convention. When describing Washington at the convention, William Pierce said Washington “now only seeks for the approbation of his Countrymen by being virtuous and useful.”
New Government Participation: Following the convention, George Washington was unanimously elected as the First President of the United States. He served for two terms before stepping down, setting a precedent for (almost) all presidents to follow.
