Contested Presidential Elections
Join TAH at the table for a discussion on five of the most contentious presidential elections in American history; 1800, 1824, 1876, 1960, and 2000. These bitter contests highlight the importance of norms and traditions for healthy republican government – norms that can only prevail if embraced by the contending candidates.
This program will be conducted as a discussion, utilizing primary documents as the only readings with the Professor facilitating the conversation instead of lecturing. Registrants are highly encouraged to read all the documents in advance and come ready with questions.
