WWI and The American Century
World War I was the largest and deadliest conflict in human history to that point, with massive consequences for the entire world. Those consequences are less well understood in America, where World War II overshadows the First World War. This seminar will focus on the how and why the United States got into the war, the conduct and role of Americans in the war, and the effects of the war domestically and in foreign relations for America.
This program will be conducted as a discussion, utilizing primary source documents as the only readings, and with the Discussion Leader facilitating the conversation, instead of lecturing or presenting. Registrants, therefore, are highly encouraged to read all the documents in advance and come ready with questions. Teachers will receive a Letter of Attendance at the conclusion of the seminar.
