KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: 

That we, the undersigned persons, in order to improve social, educational, economic and spiritual conditions among Mexican-Americans and Mexican people living in the United States of America, have associated ourselves together, and do hereby associate ourselves together upon the conditions hereinafter set forth, for the purpose of forming a non-profit corporation for educational, social and recreational purposes in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the State of California as set forth in Title XII, Article I, Section 593 of the Civil Code of the State of California.

Article 1. 

The name of this corporation shall be THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF THE MEXICAN-AMERICAN MOVEMENT.

Article II.

This corporation shall be politically non-partisan and non-sectarian, and no religious or political test shall ever be required for membership in the Supreme Council of the Mexican-American Movement or in any subordinate council chartered hereunder.

Article III.

This corporation does not contemplate pecuniary gain or profit to the members thereof and its purposes shall be as follows:

  1. To improve the social, educational, economic and spiritual conditions of Mexican-Americans and of Mexican people residing in the United States of America.
  2. To promote good citizenship among Mexican-Americans, and to inspire them to higher achievements in all phases of American life. 
  3. To encourage young people of Mexican-American background to take advantage of educational opportunities and wherever possible to seek higher education.
  4. To promote mutual understanding and cooperation between Mexican-Americans and Americans of other racial backgrounds.
